I have contacts with many news outlets, and have been featured in the Globe and Mail and Storys (the real estate industry publication). I find that a unique property will need to reach a wide audience - often times a buyer who wasn't looking for home can be reached through innovative methods such as news media, widening your buyer pool.
Not just a few posts to my Instagram, social media strategy requires careful planning and advertising dollars applied. Thankfully these outlets have sophistocated targeting methods that reach the potential buyer pools well, triggering them to view your listing even if they weren't actively looking on MLS this week.
The baseline advertising that is required is of course MLS. Board postings can be tricky. Have you ever noticed a price reduction that didn't trigger a 'New' listing on HouseSigma? There are certainly good and bad ways to work with our rather dated MLS technology.
